Happy Friday! So I didn't get a chance to take photos of our patio. We actually had rain here. Hallelujah! And it's been super windy. Now we're getting ready to head up north for the holiday weekend, but I thought I'd pop in with a different kind of what I'm Loving Lately -- Colored Shiplap -- as in, not just white. We've all seen white shiplap almost everywhere, but rarely do you see it painted or stained anymore.
I installed white shiplap in our powder room, back when it was referred to as "planking" 4 years ago. We also have a stained wood wall in our basement that we installed almost 6 years ago, so shiplap isn't really a new thing, just really trendy right now!
Let's check out this evolving wall treatment in ROY G BIV order, shall we?
1 - RED SHIPLAP
I love the look of shiplap on an island or the back of a peninsula & this shade of red really warms up the space & adds a cozy feel.
2 - ORANGE SHIPLAP
How about combining two huge trends of the moment - barn doors & shiplap lap? While shiplap usually lends itself to more of a cottage feel, this has a modern vibe & the pop of bright color adds to that style. So fun!
3 - YELLOW SHIPLAP
I'm loving these different applications. Always remember your 5th wall - the ceiling - it's often a forgotten area. To me, when a ceiling stands out, it really makes the space!
4 - GREEN SHIPLAP
Green cabinets are the thing lately & I have to say I'm really digging it! The green in this bathroom is so rich. I imagine it would feel as if you're surround by pine trees. Too descriptive? Nah...
5 - BLUE SHIPLAP
Blue is probably the most common color (other than white) that people seem to be painting shiplap. Of course there are so many shades that work well in different environments, but I have to say this dusty blue is really pretty on these built ins.
6 - INDIGO/VIOLET SHIPLAP? How about GRAY SHIPLAP!
As popular as blue shiplap seems to be, indigo & violet are as equally unpopular. BUT gray saves the day! The treatment behind this bed adds to the serene feeling of this room.
7 - STAINED SHIPLAP
Disclaimer: Please don't be offended by the mounts on the wall. My husband is a huge hunter, but is very respectful of nature. That being said, this is a shot of my own basement - the "man cave" if you will. We used a combination of sizes of standard pine boards from Home Depot & stained them with a couple coats of Minwax - Dark Walnut & used biscuit joints to give depth to every other board. Speaking of this space, we just sold our sectional down here & plan to play musical furniture throughout our house this fall, so this space will be getting a small makeover, as well as our upstairs living room.
Have you used colored shiplap somewhere? Or if you haven't, where would you apply it?
Enjoy the long holiday weekend!
